We’re not going to pretend we’re interested in Zac’s family house from The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives for its architectural features. Let’s face it, we’re as obsessed with the reality series as everyone else. For anyone who hasn’t watched the show yet, it follows a group of Mormon mum TikTok influencers, who call themselves MomTok. They live in Utah in fabulous houses – and one of them is for sale, or is it? We’ll clear that up in just a second and get to the questionable interior design choices.
In a nutshell, the show starts with dramas about swinging between friends, which were revealed by Taylor Frankie Paul, who is one of the mums with 4.5 million followers. Meanwhile, fellow TikTok star Whitney Leavitt is another mum in the group with 2.1 million followers. She’s grappling with being cancelled for doing a TikTok dance next to her baby in hospital who had RSV.
Most of the women in the group have the same long, wavy hair and a cup of ‘soda’ within arm’s reach at all times. You see, traditional Mormon beliefs say that they’re not supposed to consume caffeine or alcohol. Which is exactly why Zac’s family’s house has become quite the star on the series. Enter, the Affleck family’s mega mansion with five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a sprawling backyard that looks up to the mountains in Holladay, Utah.
You see, Zac Affleck is the husband of ‘Mormon wife’ Jen Affleck – yes, they’re related to Ben Affleck (Zac is his second cousin). Anyway, Jen invites her MomTok friends and their husbands to Zac’s family’s house for a celebration. At said celebration, some follow the Mormon rule of not drinking alcohol, while others don’t. There’s one scene where they’re all in the hot tub in Zac’s family home’s backyard and a flask of alcohol is brought out. A divide ensues between those who drink and those who don’t, and it plays out over the rest of the series.
In addition to his family’s home being the scene of the crime, Zac hasn’t exactly had a great reception by viewers of the series. He’s undoubtedly had unsolicited opinions directed at him and his family ever since. Is this what made Zac’s parents put their house up for sale? Who knows. What we do know is that interest in the house, which was listed for $US3.8 million, was so intense it was posted on Reddit and spread on TikTok, before being wiped from the internet. It appears to still be for sale, but is available off market.
Some images are still circling online, including shots of the infamous backyard with the ‘sober hot tub’. TikToker @downbadcryingonline also did some detective work and posted a photo carousel including what appears to be Zac’s childhood bedroom with a framed photo of him hanging above the bed. There have been plenty of people weighing in on this interior choice.
We’re not sure if all the interest will work in their favour or not with the house listing, but we wish them luck.
